TRIDA

 

 
           Thiruvananthapuram Development Authority (TRIDA) was constituted for the implementation of planned and scientific development for Thiruvananthapuram city and adjoining area. The jurisdiction of the authority extends to the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation and 10 surrounding Panchayats. TRIDA was constituted in the year 1980 under Section 53 D of The Travancore Town Planning Act, 1108 (Act No. IV of 1108, M.E.) as per G.O. (MS) 111/1980/LAD & SWD Dated 15/05/1980. It supersedes the Trivandrum Town Planning Trust constituted under the same act in 1974; vide GO (MS) 99/74/LAD & SWD Dated 28/04/1974.

 
            The Thiruvananthapuram Development Authority (TRIDA) was formed under the Constitution of Urban Development Authority in 1980 for the organized growth of Thiruvananthapuram city region. The Authority has 30 General Council Members and 11 Executive Committee Members that governs the functioning.

 
OBJECTIVES

 
The aims and objectives of TRIDA are:

 
Formulate schemes for comprehensive, planned and organized development of Thiruvananthapuram city and adjoining Panchayats.
Planning and execution of development projects.
Integration of development schemes conceived by Government and Semi-government and private agencies.
Identification of priority areas and accelerating development there.
Implementation of development projects with basic infrastructure at areas requiring exigent action.
Scientific implementation of land utilization and division.
Making financial help available to build and improve housing facilities.
Giving technical expertise to identify land for development of Government, Semi-government and private sectors.
Regulating development activities on the basis of existing projects.
To undertake projects as envisaged in town planning schemes
